“Modernism: Ascent”

On November 21, the exhibition “Modernism: Ascent”, dedicated to the creative legacy of Spartak Kntkhtsyan, opened in the Trdat exhibition hall of the Alexander Tamanian National Museum-Institute of Architecture. The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by: Director of the Museum Zaruhi Hayrapetyan, architect Karen Balyan, art historian Ruben Arevshatyan, architect Aghasi Kntkhtsyan. We express our sincere gratitude to all guests and visitors for their participation. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00.

“Treasures of Armenian Architecture”

On October 15, as part of the events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Alexander Tamanian National Museum-Institute of Architecture, the exhibition “Treasures of Armenian Architecture” opened at the Tamanian exhibition hall. The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks from Yeghiazary Vardanyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Zaruhi Hayrapetyan, Director of the Museum, and Ashot Grigoryan, Head of the Museum’s Research Department and Founding Director. Notable architects Gagik Gyurjyan and Sirekan Ohanyan also attended the event. In celebration of the 35th anniversary, several museum staff members and supporters were honored with commemorative medals, certificates of appreciation, and letters of recognition.

“The Vision of Applied Memory: Hazarashen in Our Time”

As part of the European Heritage Days, the Alexander Tamanian National Museum-Institute of Architecture hosted the exhibition “The Vision of Applied Memory: Hazarashen in Our Time.” The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks from Nune Petrosyan, Deputy Chair of the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Zaruhi Hayrapetyan, Director of the Museum, and Ashot Grigoryan, Head of the Museum’s Research Department. During the event, attendees shared their impressions of the exhibition, including diplomat Armine Zohrabyan and lecturers from the Politecnico di Milano, and many expressed their admiration for the exhibition.

“Public Spaces of Yerevan: Past and Present”

The Alexander Tamanian National Museum-Institute of Architecture and the Expanded Armenian Architectural Biennale have jointly launched an exhibition entitled “Public Spaces of Yerevan: Past and Present” at the Trdat exhibition hall.

“Toward Contemporary Architecture”

“Toward Contemporary Architecture”

A temporary exhibition entitled “Toward Contemporary Architecture” by architect Ara Gevorgyan opened in the “Trdat” Gallery of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture. At the opening ceremony, welcome remarks were delivered by the Director of the Museum-Institute Zaruhie Hayrapetyan; architect Ara Gevorgyan; Director of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Yerevan Office, Ruzan Arakelyan; Chair of the Central Board of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society, Zakhar Keshishyan; and board members Tigran Papikyan and Artashes Shahbazyan. The event concluded with a speech by architect Ara Gevorgyan’s wife, former Minister of Youth and Sports of Lebanon and Director of Beirut’s “Zvartnots” Special Education Center, Vardine Ohanyan.

“The Queen of Armenian Art…”

In July 2025, the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture opened an exhibition entitled “The Queen of Armenian Art,” dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Armenian architect and Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR, Alexander Arami Sahinyan. At the opening ceremony, welcoming remarks were delivered by Deputy Chair of the Urban Development Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Nune Petrosyan; Director of the Museum-Institute, Zaruhie Hayrapetyan; architect Alexander Sahinyan’s daughter, Gohar Sahinyan; and Head of the Research Department of the Museum-Institute, Ashot Grigoryan. Alexander Arami Sahinyan is one of the prominent Armenian architects who played a key and influential role in the history of Armenian architecture. The exhibition marks the beginning of the promotion of the distinguished architect’s patriotic and heritage-preserving activity, aiming to re-evaluate the rich scholarly legacy Alexander Sahinyan has left to us.

The exhibition “Architecture of Armenia in the 20th–21st Centuries” has been given a new dimension this time, being enriched with two contemporary exhibitions: “Shaping the Form” by ARCHOOP and “Buildings That Cast No Shadow” by d’Arvestanots. Discover the past and present of Armenian architecture within the same space.

Armenian Medieval Architecture

In cooperation with the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, the Ararat City Center of Culture and Arts, and the Ghazaros Saryan Secondary Professional Art School, a traveling exhibition entitled “Armenian Medieval Architecture” was organized. The exhibition featured both museum materials and original works by the students of the Ghazaros Saryan Art School, dedicated to Armenian medieval architecture.

110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

On April 29, in the “Tamanyan” Exhibition Hall of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, an exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was opened. The exhibition was organized as part of the ongoing exhibition “Armenian Architecture in the 20th–21st Centuries.”

Women Masters of Armenian Architecture

A new exhibition titled “Women Masters of Armenian Architecture” has been opened through the joint efforts of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, and the Arthur Tarkhanyan Center. Opening remarks were delivered by: Deputy Chair of the Urban Development Committee Nune Petrosyan; Director of the Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture Zaruhi Hayrapetyan; Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia Armen Shatvoryan; Doctor of Architecture, Professor, and Head of the Museum’s Research Department Ashot Grigoryan; Doctor of Architecture, Professor Lyuba Kirakosyan; Architects Shoghik Amirkhanyan and Irina Harutyunyan. The exhibition features works by both senior and contemporary Armenian women architects, including those from the Diaspora, highlighting their important contribution to the architectural heritage of our country.
